Dr. C. S. Adhikari (65), M.A. PhD (economics) has got 46 years experience in research/ consultancy and teaching. Starting his career as a lecturer in a degree college in Manila (Almora) Uttarakhand in 1978, Dr. Adhikari subsequently served institutions of repute such as Giri Institute of Development studies, Lucknow, IIM, Lucknow and Vaikuthbhai Mehta Research Centre, Navi Mumbai in various capacities before joining Institute for Technology and Management (ITM), Navi Mumbai in December 2000 as Professor of Economics and Entrepreneurship. He was elevated to the position of Academic Coordinator (PGDBM) in 2003, Dy. Director in 2006 and Director in February 2007. In March 2017, he retired from ITM as Dean. He was adjunct professor with Narsee Monjee Instittute of Management Studies (NMIMS) from 2017 till April 2024.
Currently, he is engaged in transforming the farm -based activities in his village in Uttarakhand with a view to strengthen the local economy. He is also the external consultant of NMIMS Navi Mumbai for the ongoing projects of SFURTI entrusted to NMIMS as a Technical Agency by MSME, GoI.
Dr. Adhikari is a keen student of development economics has carried out more than a dozen research and consultancy projects for UNDP, NABARD, SIDBI, Govt. of India, Govt. of U.P. and CIDCO over the years. His research and consulting projects mainly covered evaluation studies, feasibility studies, Preparation of District Perspective Plans, Socio-economic surveys, Decentralised District Level Planning, rural industries etc., across various States. He has published more than 30 articles / research papers in various journals, including Productivity, Economic and Political Weekly, International Journal of Business Insights and Technology, etc.
He completed a three-week training program in Southern New Hampshire University, USA, on Micro Finance in June 2001 and was awarded a Certificate for outstanding performance as a DE Instructor in November 2002 by Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, USA. Dr. Adhikari was awarded best teacher award in economics by ITM in 2003 and in Social Corporate Responsibility by Higher Education Forum in 2012. Dr. Adhikari is an acclaimed teacher of economics and has earned very high respect from his students and alumni. He is a prolific speaker and author on social, economic and political issues, which have been expressed through hundreds of research conferences, seminars, and workshops he has participated in over the years, and his articles and research papers online and in print have been published from time to time. Besides, he is a very conscious poet and has published two collections of his poems.
At RCSS, Dr Adhikari advises on academic collaborations, peer-reviewed publications, and strategic initiatives to promote social science research at a global level.
