Ms Tauqeer Fatima Suratwala

Ms Tauqeer Fatima Suratwala is an academician, entrepreneur, researcher, and educator with over seven years of academic and research experience. A Mumbai University Gold Medalist in M.A. Economics and UGC-NET/SET qualified, she is currently pursuing her Ph.D. and serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, SNDT Women’s University, Churchgate.

Her research focuses on Public Economics, Finance, and Gender Studies, with publications in reputed national and international journals on sustainable development, digital finance, and gender-responsive planning. She has authored book chapters on women empowerment, edited student research publications, and contributed as a resource person on research methodology, NET/SET preparation, AI in education, and public speaking. She also serves on the editorial boards of reputed journals.

A defining milestone of her career is her role as Founder of the Ideal Institute of Academic & Research Advancement (IIRA). As an academic social entrepreneur, she has transformed IIRA into a national platform known for high-quality FDPs, conferences, and workshops. The institute has become a symbol of accessible excellence, fostering capacity building, research culture, innovation, and entrepreneurship across higher education.

She has guided postgraduate dissertations, mentored student research for the Avishkar Convention, and taught courses in Public Economics, Finance, and Gender Studies. Alongside academics, she has contributed through leadership roles as Head of the Department of BBI, Research Committee In-Charge, DLLE Extension Teacher, NAAC (Criteria III) member, and Secretary of the Alumni Association. She is deeply committed to fostering entrepreneurial thinking among students, encouraging them to connect research, innovation, and enterprise.

With a vision to democratize access to quality academic development, Ms Tauqeer Fatima Suratwala continues to shape the future of higher education as a teacher, mentor, researcher, and social entrepreneur, committed to creating an inclusive and innovative academic ecosystem.
