Guidelines to Authors

The Journal of Global Economy (JGE) is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity, transparency, and responsible scholarly communication. Authors submitting manuscripts to JGE are expected to comply with the following guidelines.

1. Originality and Exclusive Submission

Manuscripts submitted to JGE must represent original scholarly work and must not have been published previously, in whole or in substantial part, in another journal or publication.

A manuscript submitted to JGE should not be under consideration by another journal at the same time. Authors should inform the Editor if substantially related work has been published, submitted, or is under consideration elsewhere.

Where a manuscript is based on an earlier working paper, conference paper, thesis, dissertation, or publicly available research report, this should be appropriately disclosed and cited.

2. Scope and Scholarly Contribution

Submitted manuscripts should fall within the aims and scope of the Journal of Global Economy. JGE welcomes original research articles, review papers, policy analysis, empirical studies, and interdisciplinary research addressing economic, social, institutional, developmental, and policy issues.

Authors should clearly establish the research problem, objectives or questions, relevant literature, methodology, findings, and contribution of the study.

3. Authorship

Authorship should be based on substantial intellectual contribution to the research and manuscript.

All individuals listed as authors should have made meaningful contributions to the conception or design of the study, data collection or analysis where applicable, interpretation of findings, drafting or critical revision of the manuscript, and approval of the final version.

All authors should accept responsibility for the integrity of their contributions and should have confidence in the integrity of the work as a whole.

Individuals who have provided assistance that does not qualify for authorship may be appropriately acknowledged.

The order of authors should be decided collectively by the authors before submission. JGE does not normally arbitrate disputes concerning authorship; such matters should be resolved among the authors and, where necessary, through their institutions.

4. Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal during submission, peer review, revision, and publication.

The corresponding author should ensure that:

all listed authors have approved the manuscript;
the authorship information is accurate;
all required declarations have been provided;
the manuscript has been submitted with the knowledge and consent of all authors; and
responses to editorial queries are provided in a timely manner.

Changes in authorship after submission should be supported by an appropriate explanation and the agreement of the authors concerned.

5. Research Integrity and Responsible Reporting

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the information presented in their manuscript is accurate and honestly reported.

Authors must not engage in:

fabrication or falsification of data;
manipulation of results;
plagiarism;
duplicate or redundant publication;
inappropriate manipulation of citations;
misrepresentation of sources or findings; or
any other form of academic misconduct.

Research methods, data sources, analytical procedures, and statistical techniques should be described with sufficient clarity to allow readers to understand and evaluate the study.

Where applicable, authors should clearly distinguish between confirmatory and exploratory analyses and should report limitations of the research.

6. Data, Sources and Reproducibility

Authors should accurately identify the sources of data and information used in their research.

Where appropriate and legally permissible, authors should retain the underlying research data, analytical materials, and relevant documentation necessary to support the findings reported in the manuscript.

Authors may be requested by the Editor to provide clarification, supporting documentation, data, or analytical information where this is necessary to evaluate the integrity or reproducibility of the research.

Any restrictions on access to data should be clearly stated.

7. Ethical Considerations

Authors are responsible for ensuring that research involving human participants, personal data, confidential information, or other potentially sensitive material has been conducted in accordance with applicable ethical and institutional requirements.

Where ethical approval, informed consent, or other formal authorization is required, the relevant information should be stated in the manuscript.

Authors should protect the privacy and confidentiality of research participants and should not disclose personally identifiable information without appropriate consent or justification.

8. Plagiarism and Proper Attribution

All sources, ideas, arguments, data, quotations, and other material derived from the work of others must be appropriately acknowledged and cited.

JGE may use plagiarism or similarity-detection procedures as part of its editorial assessment.

Similarity by itself does not necessarily establish plagiarism; however, substantial unattributed use of another person's work may constitute academic misconduct and may result in rejection or other appropriate action under the journal's policies.

9. Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial relationships, interests, affiliations, or activities that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation.

A conflict of interest does not necessarily prevent publication. Transparency allows editors and readers to assess the circumstances appropriately. Current scholarly guidance emphasizes disclosure of relationships and activities that may influence, or appear to influence, scholarly judgment. ICMJE

Where no conflict exists, authors may provide an appropriate statement such as:

“The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest.”

10. Funding and Sponsorship

Authors should disclose financial or institutional support received for the research.

The funding statement should identify the funding organization, where applicable, and describe the role of the funder in the research, including study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, or preparation of the manuscript.

If the funder had no role in these activities, this may also be stated.

11. Citation Practices

Authors should cite relevant and credible scholarly literature that genuinely contributes to the research.

Citations should not be added merely to increase the number of references, improve citation metrics, or satisfy an individual or institution.

Authors are encouraged to consider relevant research previously published in JGE where it genuinely contributes to the scholarly discussion. However, citation to JGE articles should never be required as a condition of publication.

This is particularly important because your current General Statement already says that JGE articles should be cited only when genuinely relevant. We should maintain exactly that principle here.

12. Use of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies

Authors may use generative AI and other AI-assisted technologies as tools in research and manuscript preparation, subject to responsible use and full human accountability.

AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, citations, and ethical compliance of all material submitted to JGE.

Where AI-assisted technology has been used substantially in preparing the manuscript, authors should disclose its use in accordance with the journal's Policy on the Use of Generative AI (GenAI).

Authors must carefully verify AI-generated content, references, quotations, data interpretations, and other outputs. AI-generated material must not be presented as original human scholarship without appropriate disclosure and verification.

The use of AI must not result in plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or infringement of copyright or confidentiality. Current scholarly guidance similarly places responsibility for AI-assisted content on the human authors and recommends disclosure of substantive AI use. ICMJE

13. Permissions and Copyright

Authors are responsible for obtaining appropriate permission for copyrighted material reproduced in their manuscript, where permission is required.

Authors should ensure that tables, figures, photographs, datasets, instruments, or other materials obtained from third parties are properly attributed and used in accordance with applicable rights and permissions.

14. Corrections After Publication

Authors have a responsibility to inform the journal promptly if they discover a significant error, omission, or inaccuracy in their published work.

Depending on the nature and significance of the issue, JGE may publish a correction, clarification, expression of concern, or retraction in accordance with its Retraction, Correction and Withdrawal Policy.

Authors are expected to cooperate with the journal in investigating credible concerns relating to the integrity of published work.

15. Response to Editorial and Peer-Review Comments

Authors should respond to editorial and peer-review comments professionally and constructively.

When submitting a revised manuscript, authors should clearly indicate how substantive comments have been addressed. Where an author disagrees with a reviewer or editor, the response should provide a reasoned academic explanation.

The journal may request further revisions, clarification, supporting information, or additional analysis where necessary.

16. Appeals and Complaints

Authors who believe that an editorial decision has resulted from a significant procedural or factual error may submit an appeal to the journal.

Appeals should provide clear reasons and relevant supporting information. The journal will consider appeals fairly and in accordance with its editorial procedures.

Complaints concerning publication ethics, peer review, authorship, or editorial conduct may also be submitted to the journal for appropriate consideration.

17. Author Responsibility

Submission of a manuscript to JGE indicates that the authors have read and understood the journal's relevant policies and agree to comply with its standards of academic and publication ethics.

Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical conduct of their work throughout the submission, review, and post-publication stages.

Style: Manuscripts should be submitted online with ‘Submit new article’ The file has to be written using the following software: only word document.

When submitting manuscripts, supplementary copy having details like Title of article, Authors' names, Authors' Institutional Affiliations, Abstract (200-300 words suitable for abstracting services), Introduction, Experimental (materials and Methods), Results, Discussion, Conclusion, References, Tables (each starting with a caption) and Figure captions, List of symbols and Abbreviations, Numbered list of references, Biographical sketch, and Original figures, should be submitted addtionally.

Length: An JGE Transactions paper should not 8000 words.

Order of parts: Title of article, authors' names, authors' institutional affiliations, abstract (200-300 words suitable for abstracting services), main text, tables (each starting with a caption) and figure captions, list of symbols and abbreviations (if necessary), numbered list of references, biographical sketch, and original figures.

Title: The title of the paper should be concise and definitive (with key words appropriate for retrieval purposes).

Author Names and Affiliations: It is JGE policy that all those who have participated significantly in the technical aspects of a paper be recognized as co-authors or cited in the acknowledgments. In the case of a paper with more than one author, correspondence concerning the paper will be sent to the first author unless staff is advised otherwise.

Author name should consist of first name, middle initial, last name. The author affiliation should consist of the following, as applicable, in the order noted:

- Company or college (with department name of company division)

- Postal address

- City, state, zip code

- Country name

- Telephone, fax, and e-mail

Abstract: A short abstract (200-300 words maximum) should open the paper. The purposes of an abstract are:

(1) to give a clear indication of the objective, scope, and results of the paper so that readers may determine whether the full text will be of particular interest to them;

(2) to provide key words and phrases for indexing, abstracting, and retrieval purposes.

The abstract should not attempt to condense the whole subject matter into a few words for quick reading.

Figures should be sent as: fair copy on paper, whenever possible scaled to about 200%, or as EPS file (Encapsulated PostScript). In addition, all figures and tables should be numbered and the appropriate space reserved in the text, with the insertion point clearly indicated.

The final decision on publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief upon recommendation of Editorial board member. If the manuscript is accepted for publication in JGE, it must not be published in any periodical elsewhere without the permission of the Publisher.

Special Issues: From time to time Guest Editors are invited to produce Special Issues consisting of three or more articles grouped around a common theme. Proposals for Special Issues are welcome, as are Guest Editorials and Announcements.

Copyright: Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has been neither published nor submitted for publication, in whole or in part, either in a serial, professional journal or as a part in a book which is formally published and made available to the public. For the mutual benefit and protection of authors and publishers it is necessary that authors provide formal written consent to publish and transfer of Copyright Form before publication of the work.

Proofs: Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author and should be returned with one week of receipt. Corrections should be restricted to typesetting errors; any other corrections may be charged to the authors. Authors are advised to check their proofs very carefully before return, since the inclusion of late corrections cannot be acceptable. Corrected proofs are to be returned to the publishers.
