Abstract

The ancient sages contributed intricate knowledge of disease’s causes and even described the likelihood of hereditary transmission pathways and how to cure the diseases. Ayurveda, ‘a natural medicine system’ for health care practices through the application of herbs and other materials, originated more than 5,000 years ago in India. The objective of the study is to examine the contributions of Sages, Acharyas, Maharishis, and Rishis in the medical field of ancient India and their impact on modern medicine. Method: The study is descriptive type by nature based basically on the data collected from different secondary sources. Findings: Indian medical knowledge spread throughout the world and it has remained and used as it was in the past or used in a modified way but remains its originality in some places of the world.  Conclusion: Numerous Baidyas (Doctors) and Surgeons have made significant contributions to India's healthcare systems in ancient India.  These outstanding ancient Indian medical researchers have made a lasting impact on a number of scientific fields. Their significant discoveries, ground-breaking theories, and profound insights continue to influence how we develop our healthcare practices.
